What our students are saying...
"I first came to The Yoga Casa when a friend wanted to celebrate her birthday by doing a group class together. My first instinct was no way.
I hadn’t done any regular physical activity in a while and the last thing I wanted to do was make a fool of myself in front of all our friends. But it was for my dear friend and I couldn’t let her down. Our teacher was so friendly and reassuring that it was each of our own practice, I was able to relax and enjoy the class. On top of that, the studio was so cozy and inviting, that I didn’t even think to feel uncomfortable or embarrassed. There wasn’t the wall to wall mirrors (which is what I usually associate with yoga studios) to take my attention away from what I was doing and how I felt in my body. I continued going after that, just trying it out. Every time I went, I felt completely at ease and started to feel like a part of a community. Everyone genuinely cared for each other and the teachers never once made me feel that I didn’t belong or that I had to do a certain pose the way they did it. I got advice on how to make yoga work for my body. Not only did I get my body to move in ways that I hadn’t done before, but I found calmness in my mind too. I could go to class and it was just for me, without any judgements or criticisms. Lora’s body positivity teachings helped me to start accepting and loving myself for myself and realize that just because my poses don’t look like someone else’s, it doesn’t mean that I’m not receiving the same benefits." |
"Yoga Casa has changed my life!!!
About 2&1/2 years ago, I was looking for some type of activity that was right for me. Something that I would enjoy doing through the years. I had done boot camp type workouts with a trainer hired by the school I worked for, joined a gym and tried a cardio intensive class at another facility. Everything made my body hurt and intensified the pain I was having in my knees. Then I stepped into The Yoga Casa. Lora and several other instructors encouraged me and listened to me explain my aches and pains. Each instructor helped me understand the different yoga poses and how I could make them work in my body. Slowly my knee pain got better, my body became stronger, and my mind and emotions followed. I was embraced by a community of people who loved yoga, but also loved each other!! I can truly say that I have made life long friends and a life long habit of practicing yoga!! All because of The Yoga Casa!!" |
